Will this ever work out?

Okay, so I've been friends with this guy for aaages, ever since I started school. Whilst I had a crush on some other guy, my friend got a girlfriend. But... A while later, I realised that I like him. Some shizz happened, and I talked to him about it. He said that he had liked me, and when his girlfriend asked him out he only said yes because he'd given up on me. He also said that he still liked me, but he can't break up with his girlfriend. He actually likes me MORE than his girlfriend, but he doesn't wanna break up with her. He said that maybe, next year or something... But his girlfriend (Who is a pretty mean, spiteful b**ch) seems to think they'll still be together next year. He also said that their relationship is very weak... They argue all the time. But... Will it ever actually work out?
