What is the Tropic of Capricorn?

It is 23 degrees south of the Equator and is the farthest southern that the sun can appear directly overhead. The name comes from the Sun appearing to enter the constellation of Capricorn at this time. A simular line appears on the celestial sphere known as the Celestial Tropic of Capricorn.
