Another question about the gravitational singularity?

ok the universe is expanding into where nothing has been before. but newtons third law says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. so does the nothingness that the universe is expanding into push back? or do the laws of physics not apply out there? also if you had a ship at the edge of the universe could you go outside of it?
