Why Are my Eyelids/Eyes burning?

For 3 months my eyes and eyelids have been swollen, burning, itching, and irritated. I have been to an optometrist and an ophthalmologist. I was given Lotemax (a steroid eye drop) and it cleared it up for about 2-3 weeks. Then, it came right back. The ophthalmologist told me to take my contacts out and use Pataday (an allergy eye drop), but the Pataday burns my eyes even more. It's painful! I am at my wits end! I have changed my soap, make-up remover, and all my eye make-up, but with no difference. I thought about getting Lasik so I wouldn't have to wear contacts, but I am not sure that would really help. Any advice?
