Is coming out through facebook a good idea?

Sure. You could always change it back, plus in the privacy settings you can control who can and who can't see what information. I suggest playing around with the settings first though. FB is a subtle way of coming out, so you don't have to be awkward about it or make a big deal, but at the same time you are open.
